Their pro democracy actions included strikes, blocking roads and “carnivalesque street parties, filled with young people rebelling against what they saw as a corrupt, ruling elite.
In response to a white supremacist march, Knoxville, TN citizens dressed as clowns and orchestrated an effective counter protest. In response to calls for "white power", they replied “Did they say white flour? and threw clouds of flour in the air. The silliness continued with "white flowers", "tight showers" and "wife power" till the haters went home.

Kayaktivism is a mobilization of small boats used to draw attention to environmental issues. There were large kayak actions in 2015 in Seattle in response to Obama's approval of offshore oil drilling in the Arctic. They called themselves the Mosquito Flotilla and used banners to help get their point across. The Backbone Campaign organized and trained a lot of the kayakers.
The Bread and Puppet Theater was founded in 1963 by Peter Schumann on New York City’s Lower East Side. Besides rod-puppet and hand puppet shows for children, the concerns of the first productions were rents, rats, police, and other problems of the neighborhood.
